Welcome to Tualatin Rotary

Thank you to all of the supporters of
2007 Annual Rose Sale!

The Tualatin Rotary Club has about 40 members dedicated to improving the community, but with a focus on youth in Tualatin, surrounding communities and throughout the world.  Locally we have projects involving the Boy Scouts, children in the local schools, and a student-centered Interact Club at Tualatin High School.  Internationally, we sponsor an inbound and an outbound exchange student each year and are involved in an international project to purchase a minivan for the child care association in Roblealto, Costa Rica.

While we are doing all this, we are also having a lot of fun!  Our club is known for its lively meetings, and has a reputation for having the best luncheon throughout Rotary District 5100, which stretches from Astoria to Baker City and from Battle Ground to Salem and Bend.  If you are interested in finding out more about Rotary and our club in particular, please select the “members” page and contact someone you know from the club.  Don’t recognize anyone?  That’s okay, you can select the “Contact Me, Please” button and someone will contact you.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

With Rotary’s motto, “Service above Self,” we make a great effort to help people in our community and beyond who need a helping hand achieving their goals.  One of our greatest satisfactions is knowing we helped someone who will never know us or be able to thank us, but knows there are people in the world that made life a bit better for them.  Here are just a few of the ways we work together to make others’ lives better:

v      Scholarships for graduating Tualatin High School Seniors

v      Sponsoring an exchange student from Tualatin High to a foreign country

v      Sponsoring an exchange student from a foreign country to Tualatin High School

v      Sponsoring Boy Scouts to Leadership Camps

v      Assisting with the Tualatin High School Grad Night

v      Sponsoring an Interact Club at Tualatin High School

FUNDRAISING FOR OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

It’s nice to have a lot of community service projects, but it takes money to provide college scholarships, purchase bunk beds, send students to foreign lands and bring foreign students to our community. How do we raise the money needed for all this?  Through our annual community ROSE SALE.  That’s right, people from all over the Portland area and beyond order roses from us each year about mid April, and on the day they arrive our club members fan out delivering roses to those who were so generous.  You say you can get roses for less at a local store?  Sure you can, but not fresh, long-stem roses beautifully packaged and delivered to you.  And every single dollar we make on this community event goes to wonderful projects which help someone in need, or to make someone’s life a bit better.

So when you hear about our annual community ROSE SALE this fall, don’t hold back.  Order a dozen for your spouse, your girl friend or boy friend, for your mother, for your employees, or for yourself!  Find out what it’s like to be a part of a community that cares!

ROTARY’S FOUR-WAY TEST

Rotarians are asked to apply ROTARY’S FOUR-WAY TEST to their daily lives, and always ask themselves, “Of the things we think, say or do,”

1.      Is it the TRUTH?

2.      Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3.      Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4.      Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
